How to Read Trumpet Fingering Chart
Numbers (1, 2, 3) = which valve to press
0 = no valves pressed (open)
Each note shows a valve combination: 1 = first valve
2 = second valve
3 = third valve
Common combinations: 1 + 2 = press valves 1 and 2
1 + 3 = press valves 1 and 3
1 + 2 + 3 = press all valves

The Anatomy of Your Trumpet
The trumpet has several key parts that work together to produce sound. Your left hand supports the instrument while your right hand presses the valves to change notes.
Mouthpiece
Where you place your lips and create sound by buzzing.
Leadpipe
Carries air from the mouthpiece into the trumpet.
Valves
Three buttons that change pitch when pressed.
Tuning Slide
Adjusts the overall tuning of the instrument.
Bell
The wide end that projects the sound outward.
