How to Read Piccolo Fingering Chart
Filled circles (●) = press the key
Open circles (○) = do not press
Numbers (1, 2, 3) = which fingers to use
Left hand (top) = upper keys
Right hand (bottom) = lower keys
PICCOLO FINGERING
The Anatomy of Your Piccolo
The piccolo is a small woodwind instrument that plays higher notes than the flute. Your left hand covers the upper section while your right hand operates the lower keys.
Head Joint
Contains the embouchure hole where you blow air to create sound. The cork position inside affects tuning and should be checked regularly.
Body Joint
Houses most of the keys and tone holes. Your left hand covers the upper keys while your right hand controls the lower keys.
Keys
Small metal mechanisms that open and close tone holes to produce different notes.
Embouchure Hole
The opening where you direct your air across to produce sound.
